Only somebody stuck in the past who has not visited Brisbane for the last decade. Just cross the river and you will find this...
- Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA): Australia's largest gallery of modern and contemporary art focuses on the art of the late 20th and 21st centuries. Works from the Australian, International, Indigenous Australian, Asian and Pacific collections are shown in dramatic spaces designed specifically for contemporary art. Attractions at Goma also include film screenings at the Australian Cinematheque - the first of its kind in an Australian art museum - and innovative programs just for kids in the Children's Art Centre.
- Queensland Art Gallery: Experience Australian and International art in its many forms. The gallery presents works from its historical and early modern Australian and international collections, as well as rare historical Asian art treasures. It also displays a lively and engaging program of exhibitions and interpretative programs, including talks, lectures, and events.
- Queensland Museum South Bank: Its unique collection of several million items plays a crucial role in documenting the past to better understand the future. The Museum has six campuses across the state. The South Bank campus is its flagship with over 560,000 visitors in 2006. Explore the changing story of Queensland on three floors of galleries that highlight the state's natural and cultural heritage, as well as scientific and human achievement. Includes Museum Zoo and Science Centre
- Queensland Performing Art Centre (QPAC): The state's premier performing arts venue, attracting 600,000 visitors each year by offering a variety and scale of events that cannot be experienced elsewhere in Queensland. The QPAC program includes co-presentations with touring companies such as the Australian Ballet, Bell Shakespeare and the internationally renowned festival for 3-8 year olds, Out of the Box.
- State Library of Queensland: The 2007 best public building hosts Australia's leading library of Queenland's documentary heritage. The library holds major reference and research collections and presents a public program of exhibitions, talks, film screenings, training and information sessions and activities for children and young people.
With lots of free events to enjoy with your family during the summer.
