Rain, rain and more rain.

Brisbane is set to receive nearly three times its monthly rainfall average of 133 millimetres.
The city has already received 384 millimetres, 15 millimetres short of trippling the average for December.
In the first five days of the month we reached 115 millimetres almost the average for the whole month. The rain gauge topped 266 millimetres, exactly double the December average, on December 19th.
"We’re not quite there yet but you could expect that we will triple the average total over the holiday period," Mr Harrison said.

Brisbane City Council 2010

As the year draws to a close and we all look forward to relaxing with family and friends, it's also a great opportunity to reflect on some of the changes in 2010, highlighted by Lord Mayor Campbell:

  1. The opening of the Clem7 tunnel (linking Woolloongabba to Bowen Hills) and the Go Between Bridge (connecting Suncorp Stadium with South Bank).
  2. The launch of three new CityCat ferries on the Brisbane River, and the preliminary work on a terminal upgrade for Bulimba.
  3. The launch of the CityGlider bus route, from Teneriffe to West End.
  4. The announcement of two new major parks, in Milton and Coorparoo.
  5. The launch of Brisbane’s 'CityCycle' bike hire scheme, which to date has approximately 3000 subscribers.
  6. The planting of 522,000 trees to green Brisbane, as part of our 2 Million Trees program.
  7. The purchase of 270 hectares of at-risk bushland to save it from development.
  8. Saving City Hall through an extensive restoration process.
  9. continuing to invest in our suburbs with new jumbo recycling bins, additional bikeways, a Taskforce Against Graffiti (TAG), swimming pool upgrades, wifi in all Council libraries and the severe weather Early Warning Alert Service.
