She is 261 metres long, rivalling the length of about 18 public buses parked end to end.
She can carry 2890 people – 1990 passengers and 900 crew – at the same time.
And now the Sun Princess is calling Brisbane home, becoming the first international cruise ship to be based in the Queensland capital and the largest ship to be based in Queensland to date.
The company's commercial director in this county, Stan Bing, said the US-based cruise line selected Brisbane as a home port to tap into the growing market.
Almost 500,000 Australians took a cruise in the past year, up 27 per cent on the previous year.
Brisbane is a fantastic northern base for one of our cruise ships and we think Sun Princess will be a great addition to the state's expanding cruise industry. The superliner would sail from Brisbane until March, offering 10 roundtrip cruises to New Zealand, Asia and the South Pacific over the five-month period.
She is expected to carry more than 20,000 holidaymakers and inject more than $10 million into the local economy.
